About the Author
Angel Rey was born in Central Florida to a Cuban exile and Appalachian asylum seeker. She is the personal assistant to four dogs, runs a catch and release program for stray humans, and believes in the transformative power of tabletop gaming.
Her small chapbook is less an expression of poetic perfection and more a rage of claustrophobic catharsis in an attempt to maintain sanity in the time of COVID.
About the Chapbook
During COVID-19, the author resigns herself to home and dogs and internet and streaming, all the while her brain is screaming. And friends reach out for help. Laid off or furloughed, but whatever you say, it means, "I can’t pay rent today." And no one can help because we’re all right here, side by side, same boat, same leak, no bucket. So she writes. And yeah, maybe it’s mostly garbage and she’s spiraling down her subconscious mirrored funhouse, but what’s art anyway and who’s it for? This, at least, has helped her get through the boredom and the stress to focus on as much hope as she can, and we could all use a little hope.

This is a dog.
The dogs are referenced here and there, but the chapbook isn't about them. They've just kept the author company and deserve recognition for their part in her ongoing sanity.
This is another dog.
The author has a few dogs. She also fosters on occasion and helps support other people (and dogs) in her local foster network. This also has nothing to do with her chapbook.
Yup. Dog.
Let's be honest -- unless you're an essential worker or on the frontlines in the medical field, you don't have much else going on, so enjoy looking at these adorable pups.
Wait, is that another dog?
Don't judge. And yes, she's missing an eye but she's still the world's best ball catcher and a top-notch snuggler. This has nothing to do with the very cheap, probably not very good poetry chapbook, Bored Poet. But, she's pretty much the best ever, so...
